Saturday Is A Special Day...

Saturday was the day I had been waiting for.
I had the little countdown ticker here on the blog.
It was marked on my calendar.
I was dreaming about it.

Twilight came out on dvd!! Believe me, it was all I could do to NOT go to one of the many midnight release parties, but after much consideration I decided to buy it from Target, and they didn't stay open. So Jillen and I were up bright and early Saturday morning and over at Target to get our copy of the 3 disc set. Most other stores only offered the 2 main discs, but Target had an extra disc, and it was the same price! AND it had the footage that I really wanted -- My Spunk playing the piano!! :D

Here I am at the Twilight display. Yeah, it was early... But I was excited!!!

And here is Jillen, dressed very Alice-Appropriate.

After snagging our dvd we headed over to Wal-Mart to get some groceries. Imagine Jillen's surprise when they started playing the movie in their fancy little Twilight section! There were even still some remnants from their midnight release party!! She sat and watched the movie while I shopped. Why don't all stores have this option for parents??? :D

Ahhh, Wal-Mart carries Twilight merchandise. That is bad for me... I spend enough money there as it is! :D

And after an afternoon of watching the audio commentary, which is hilarious and My Spunk is totally great in!!, I got to go to an engagement party for my awesome friend Erin and her fiance. I went with my friends Heather and Samantha and we had a great time!! It was at a restaurant over in Tempe on Mill Ave, and boy were the drunk college kids out!! :D But they were fun to watch! :P
Here are us MCC girls - (LtoR) Erin, Jennifer (I think, I hadn't met her before even though she's in the design program), Heather, Samantha, and me. Our other friend Jen wasn't there, but we will rope her into our next outting...
And incase you're curious as to why I wanted that Target dvd, check this out. I think this is what my mom was hoping for by making us take piano lessons as kids. Turn off the music on the playlist at the bottom first, but it's worth it! And luckily they updated the playlist style so it's easier than ever to adjust the sound level, turn off the shuffle, and pause/play the songs.
Can you just see the talent pouring out of him? This is footage from when they first filmed him as Edward playing Bella's Lullaby for the movie. They didn't have a song written yet so they told him to just make something up and play. So he did. For like 2 hours. All of this was made up on the spot by him. He is an awesome pianist!! And you wonder why I love him... :D

Capote Coat...

Jorden had a Mountain Man campout with his scout group last week. He was pretty excited for it, especially after having made a huge knife with a deer antler handle. One of the things he had to have was a capote. Ca-what you might ask? That's right, capote. Apparently it's some type of Old French wool cloak-jacket thing. It was made from a wool army blanket and he cut out all the pieces, I just had to sew it together. So after recovering from the stomach flu, I was all set. Then about 2 feet into the first line, the thick material broke my sewing machine needle, and the store was already closed for the day. Yay. Next day, I went out and bought 10 needles, 5 heavy ones for sewing denim, and started again. 3 needles later, the capote was complete. Jorden made a few minor alterations to the final result, but it kept him warm on the campout, and I guess that was the main purpose behind it. :)

Here is a drawing I found on-line of what one capote style might look like. Jorden's was a little different - no front collar or buttons, although he chose to add some at the last minute.

Here is Jorden modeling the capote. If he had asked I could have made sure that the stripes lined up when he added the buttons, but what do mom's know...

And the hood. It had tassles and everything. :D

From the back. I'll bet after seeing this thing of beauty you are shocked and amazed that I actually FAILED 7th grade Home Ec! And not even because of the cooking! :P That part I got an A on -- I guess Mrs. Flake didn't appreciate my attempt at sewing a skirt. Oh well, she couldn't keep me from trying again! :D

Let's just say my kids are glad that I can find a bargin on clothes at the store... :P

Happy birthday to the best friend anyone could have!!

And this was just before seeing the movie for the 4th time that day. Oh, New Moon day is gonna be awesome!!! And I can't imagine sharing my Twilight obsession with anyone better than Melissa!!!

I hope you have a great day!!!
I love ya!!!

SOS...

Time for a little self indulgence. Sorry. It can't be helped. :)
When I saw the following picture last night only one thing came to mind. In the words of the great Mary Katherine Gallagher --
I think my feelings would best be expressed by the song SOS from Rihanna.

I'm obsessive when just one thought of you comes up
And I'm aggressive when just one thought ain't close enough
You got me stressin', incessantly pressing the issue
'Cause every moment gone you know I miss you
I'm the question and you're of course the answer
Just hold me close boy 'cause I'm your tiny dancer
You make me shake and I'm never mistaken
But I can't control myself, got me calling out for help
S.O.S. please someone help me.
It's not healthy... for me to feel this way
Y-O-U are making this hard,
I can't take it, see it don't feel right
S.O.S. please someone help me
It's not healthy... for me to feel this way
Y-O-U are making this hard
You got me tossin' and turnin' I can't sleep at night
This time please someone come and rescue me
'Cause you on my mind it's got me losing it
I'm lost, you got me lookin' for the rest of me
Love is testing me but still I'm losing it
Just your presence and I second guess my sanity
Yes it's a lesson, it's unfair you stole my vanity
My tummy's up in knots so when I see you I get so hot
My common sense is out the door, can't seem to find the lock
Take on me (uh huh) you know inside you feel it right
Take me on I could just die up in your arms tonight
I melt with you, you got me head over heels
Boy you keep me hanging on the way you make me feel
Boy, you know you got me feeling open
And boy, your loves enough with words unspoken
I said boy I'm telling you, you got me open
I don't know what to do it's true
I'm going crazy over you,
I'm begging
This time please someone come and rescue me
Cause you on my mind got me losing it
I'm lost you, got me looking for the rest of me,
Got the best of me
I'm losing it
Wow, he's pretty... Avery, I know you understand. :)
I think my favorite part is the line
Robert Pattinson is Here - Hide Your Daughters
Yeah, because they may very well be trampled by their mothers in an effort to get to this boy. :D

PoP! Goes My Heart...

I watched this movie again today and now I remember why I love it so much!!

Drew Barrymore is cute as ever...
Hugh Grant is funny and charming...
And Scott Porter has got some dance moves!!
(I feel somewhat robbed with his character being in a wheelchair on Friday Night Lights! :D )

Enjoy the awesomeness of PoP! Goes My Heart!! But turn off the playlist at the bottom first.

And if you haven't seen this movie RUN out to your local video store and rent it!! It's super cute and fun! And if you ever loved a Boy Band, you will not be disappointed!! :D

Happy Birthday Beau!!!

Today is my brother Beau's birthday!!

We hope you had a great day!!!

We love you and miss you!!

Beau is in Washington in the Army, so we don't to see him too often. But he sure looks cool in his uniform!! :D

Here he is with the kids last February when he left for basic training.

Here is Beau and Me in 1976 -- Weren't we cute??? :P

And again last September. We haven't changed at all... :D

Happy Birthday Beau!!!

We Love You!!!

Bobcats and Wolves and Elk -- Oh Marnie...

I will again preface this by saying that MY computer with the Photoshop is still at the doctor, so these pictures are not edited, cropped, red-eyed, or anything else that I normally do. Hopefully the hard drive wiping will be complete soon... I miss my Photoshop. :(

Wow!! What an exciting week Jayden had last week!! First he was a Bobcat, followed quickly by becoming a Wolf, then he tried to be an Elk! Bet you didn't realize how wild he really is!! :D

Jayden got his Bobcat and Wolf awards in Cub Scouts this month. We hadn't done much work on them last fall since I was so busy with school and trying to keep my head above water, but now that I have nothing else to do, we got them done!! He was able to receive his Bobcat and his Wolf at the Blue and Gold Banquet this month. He was sure excited!! And they did a really great ceremony too! A man comes dressed up and he uses props and everything! The boys love it and Jayden was no exception!!

The theme of the banquet was America the Beautiful and the boys were asked to decorate a cake for a contest, and then we ate them afterwards! Jayden wanted to do a flag but me, being the decorating mama that I am, encouraged him to dig a little deeper and come up with something more original. (Good thing too since 3 of the other 5 cakes were all flags! :D ) We decided to make the Grand Canyon with flag decor around the sides. It didn't turn out exactly like we hoped, especially since I so absent mindedly left the finished cake on top of the stove, where the oven underneath was still hot and made the frosting melt and slide off... Oh well, we had fun and the cake had lots of sugar crystals, frosting, fruit roll-ups, and blueberry whoppers! Yum!!! Sugar!!! :D Here's Jayden with his cake that won the Grandest Cake award. :P

Next, Jayden got to be an Elk. Or at least sound like one! Every year we hear about the Elk Calling contest that is held during the Sportman's Expo, or is it Outdoorsman's Expo... Anyway, we always hear about it AFTER it's over, and Jayden never gets to enter. This year I heard about it in time and Jayden got to enter!! The division he was in the was the Pee-Wee division, for kids 10 and under. There was a total of 10 kids and I think he did pretty good for his first time. We weren't sure what to expect, so he didn't have a Cow call, just the Bull call. They chose the top 3 callers and they won some prizes, but since Jayden passed on his Cow call he didn't win. But now we know what to do for next year!! I did video the whole thing, or so I thought. Apparently I'm not as good with the camera as I thought. Bummer, cause he sounded GREAT on his Bull call!! And he was one of the only kids who didn't use a mouth piece, just the bugle tube! We think next year the girls will enter with him too...

One of the cutest parts of the competition was this little girl, who was probably 2 or 3, that got up and called. (Brooke, I am fully expecting to see Ellee there with us next year... :D ) Here she is with her dad helping her. The parents are allowed to go up with the kids if they want to. Oh, and might I add that Jayden was the only kid there who didn't also have an older sibling or parent competing! I'm pretty proud of him!!

And today we got to meet Marnie, my sister Brianna's new baby. She is super sweet and was so good!! Jillen was thrilled to get to hold her. Thanks for coming by Bri!!! :)
