Wild Weekend with the Whitmers...

Oh, will the fun around this place ever end??? :) What I thought was going to be a nice, quiet weekend at home proved to be anything but that!

Hazard #1 -- Poisonous Spiders

Have you ever seen a Black Widow? Do you want to? 'Cause I've seen plenty of them in my life and I could really do without ever seeing another one again! This weekend we killed 4 HUGE black widows, complete with egg sacks bigger than they were. Oh joy, that's what's living in my backyard...where my children play... Tim smashed the first one he saw and I took care of the other 3. Here's one of the lovely ladies that decided to build herself a home in our yard. Body the size of a dime. Egg sack bigger than that. Funeral services are pending...

Hazard #2 -- Live Electrical Lines
Do you see anything out of the ordinary in this picture of the power lines hanging over our backyard? Again, the yard where my children play.

No, let's try a little closer shot...

Getting clearer? One more, just so we're sure...

Um, that's not good. Needless to say, no power to our house Saturday evening. Good thing I like candles. :) And at least the weather was nice, we could just open the windows. And also good that Tim had decided to bbq ribs that day so dinner was already done when this occurred. What, you might ask, could cause such a thing to happen? Let's just say --

This USED to be in the backyard, where the power lines hang. I think they might hang a little too close to the ground. Joy.

Oh, and did I mention that those lovely ladies that died in our yard have relatives who apparently live in this cozy trailer? And that my dear husband is planning on taking our children camping in that this weekend? I think I'm buying a Bug Bomb this week...

Thank-you Mr. SRP Man. Since the line was live they sent someone right out and he had it fixed pretty quickly. We survived 2 hours with no power. It was not fun. I did not like it. Now Tim and the kids want to turn off the power once a month for 2 hours. I'm gonna have to talk them out of that.

Pay no attention to the scorch marks still on the line... :) It works!! That's all I care about! And the backyard is once again safe for the kiddies to play in.

Hazard #3 -- Broken Water Lines
Yeah, you know it's not good when the water suddenly shuts off and you go outside to find this...

Good thing Tim is good with PVC pipe. :) But still, no hand washing for over an hour? :o I thought I wouldn't survive!!

Good as new, and way better than it was before. ;)

What, you might ask, could have caused a pvc pipe to break apart? Hmm, let me think...

And WHO could have dropped this big, heavy bike onto the pipe? Well, I'm not naming any names, but he's 8 years old, he has brown hair and big bright blue eyes, and his name starts with a J. But like I said, I'm not naming any names. :)
Boy am I glad that weekend is over! :D

Easter '09...

Well, somehow that big bunny found his way into our house again this year. I really should find out who gave him a key or change the locks or something. But the kids seem to enjoy it, and he does leave candy...

Here is the scene of the crime. As you can see, there were little plastic eggs everywhere, some placed so high that only Jorden could reach them.

And as if the eggs weren't enough, he left stuff on the the couch. Man, and I just had the kids clean the living room the night before too...

Here's a closer look at the stash left on the couch.

After dealing with the shocking egg deposits all over our house, we were off to church, where I was told by one of the little boys in my Primary class that I am 'cute' and 'pretty.' When I told him thank you and that he was very handsome he told me, "No, I'm cute...but you're cute too." Uh oh, I think Tim's got some competition. But if that gets him to come help me on the days my teaching partner is gone, then so be it!! :P

Then we headed over to my Aunt Micki's house for a little fun with the Loe family. All of the kids found ways to entertain themselves.

Jensen found a Rubix Cube --

And she taught Britt (my sister Brianna's little boy) how to golf --

Jayden found some old pin ball machines that used to belong to my Grandpa Loe --

Jillen and Jorden found the pool --

And Jorden, Jayden, and My Dad found another kind of pool --

Britt roped my Uncle Rob into coloring with him --

And we all got to enjoy little Marnie, Brianna's new little baby. What a sweetie!!!

Me and Marnie, or should I say Marnie and Me... :P

It was a super fun day!! Hope you had a fun Easter too!!!

FNL Through 2011...

I'm so excited, I can't really speak...

I didn't think it would happen, but it looks like it has.
Friday Night Lights, the BEST show on tv, has been renewed for 2 more seasons.

Christmas has come early this year.

I think I'll cry...

Now, let's just find a way to keep Riggins on the show, shall we???
Thank-you. :)

Fun Fact #6...

Fun Fact #6 --

I don't like Cookies dunked in Milk.
Seriously, EWWWW!!!! Gross!!!!
I'm not a big fan of milk to begin with, but why ruin a perfectly good cookie by getting it all soggy?
Oh, and Chocolate Chip Cookies are not all that... There are WAY better cookies out there. ;)

Random Picture

A big congrats goes out to Carrie Underwood today!!! She won Entertainer of the Year last night at the Academy of Country Music Awards. We were so excited for her!! We love her and think she's made of all kinds of awesome!!

Yay Carrie!!!!!

And how glad am I that she dethroned Kenny Chesney? :D Maybe now he will go find a shirt that has actual SLEEVES on it!! :P

Fun Fact #5...

Fun Fact #5 --

I have really long fingernails.

I always have, I probably always will.

And they're real, natural, they just grow this way.

Ahh, good genetics pay off yet again. :)

Random Picture --

Want to know what I did yesterday afternoon? Yeah, I didn't think you really did but too bad, I'm gonna tell you anyway. :) I cleaned out underneath my sofa's. It was scary, I thought for a few minutes that I might not make it out alive, but I managed to survive. And now I realize that I need to clean the carpets again since the carpet under the couch is a different color than the carpet I can actually see. But it's sure pretty under there. Too bad no one can see it...

Oh joy for early outs at school... The kids got home at 2pm, right in the middle of my planned afternoon cleaning session. So much for that. At least I have some songs from My Spunk to keep me company and drown out the sound of children fighting, I mean playing, in the house since apparently they will blow away outside due to all the wind. Remember when your parents used to tell you about walking to school in 2 feet of snow, uphill both ways? Well, when I tell my kids that I played outside in hurricane strength winds and lived to tell the tale it's true!! Anyone who's ever been to Snowflake in the Spring can attest to that. :D
At least I get to make them listen to My Spunk too, which they don't seem to enjoy all that much. What is wrong with these children? How could you not love the music coming out of My Spunk??? I mean, just look at him playing his guitar in the movie How To Be, which comes out on the 29th of this month. Seriously, talent oozing from every pore!!! :)
Um, the hands... Oh, he's pretty wonderful...

Mom's Beauty Shop...

Apparently I went into the wrong profession. This past weekend we decided that it was time for haircuts for the family. I just got mine cut a few weeks ago so I was good, but the kids and Tim were in need of a little grooming. Here are the results of my handy work with a pair of scissors...

Jensen just needed the ends trimmed off, so it still pretty much looks like this - long and straight.

Here is Jayden a couple of weeks ago. His hair wasn't crazy, out of control or anything, but it was getting a little long.

And Jayden now. Not too bad. And the little almost bald spot in the back wasn't even my fault! (Darn hair clipper thingy...) The front really is even, he just likes to shake his hair back and forth so it doesn't appear to be too neatly fixed. :D

Jillen's hair is still pretty short from when she got it cut in October. Here she is last week the way her hair usually looks.

She just wanted bangs. She has a spot or two on her forehead that make bangs almost impossible, unless they are really thick, so we just cut a little bit. She still pushes them to the side. :)

Now for the biggest change... Jorden.
Here he is a couple of weeks ago with his long hair. I think besides him, I am the only person who likes his hair long. What can I say, I have a 'thing' for long hair on boys. Not rock star long, just surfer boy long. I think it's cute...

Here he is before I started cutting...

His hair was longer than Jillen's! :D

And after I finished. I actually didn't cut this much off initially. I left it a lot longer and then he said he wanted more cut, so I cut more. I liked it before I did the second cut, but I like this too.

He's kinda got the Zac Efron look goin'. That's not a bad thing... Remember the 'surfer-boy' look I'm so fond of. :)

Of course then he goes and covers it with a 'mushroom hat' he concocted from a pillow. Lovely.
Luckily he only wore that in the house. Teenaged boys...

Ahhh, there's never a dull moment around here. Sorry, no pictures of Tim's do. He usually just shaves it all but this time he told me to do whatever I wanted. :D I told him I would shave it but he said to leave it longer in the back because he knows I like it better that way.
Gee, I think he kinda likes me... :P
